Kyle Busch Motorsports owner/driver Kyle Busch is a perfect four-for-four in 2014 in the Camping World Truck Series, winning Friday’s Lucas Oil 200 at Dover International Speedway in a dominating performance. KBM driver Darrell Wallace Jr. finished 16th in the event.
Busch, in the No. 51 ToyotaCare Toyota Tundra, led a race-high 150 laps in the 200-lap race at the “Monster Mile” after starting on pole at the one-mile track; qualifying was washed-out and based on the NASCAR rule book.
“I can’t say enough about everyone on this Kyle Busch Motorsports team, everyone at Kyle Busch Motorsports chassis – they are building us some awesome chassis – they’re fast,” said Busch on the KBM website. “I just want to say thanks to Toyota and ToyotaCare that we had the Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award with us this week. I know the submissions are over, but it’s a great award at the end of the year that goes to the people that help the kids in their community the most. We appreciate people being able to do that and reminds us a lot of the Kyle Busch Foundation. Can’t say enough about Camping World and the fans and hey, my little buddy. It’s Erik Jones’ birthday today, so happy 18th birthday today to Erik Jones. He’s in five of the next six I think so everybody can get rid of Kyle Busch.”
Wallace Jr. started 15th in the No. 54 ToyotaCare Tundra, working his way into the top five by Lap 28. His Tundra was tight in the corners, but before he could come in for adjustments, he cut a tire and fit the wall, forcing a green-flag stop on Lap 41; he exited the pits three laps down in 25th. Wallace Jr. remained on the track, eventually finishing five laps down to the leaders in 16th.
Ryan Blaney finished second in the Lucas Oil 200, followed by Johnny Sauter, Brandon Jones and former KBM driver Joey Coulter.
The Camping World Truck Series gets back on track Friday night, June 6th, at Texas Motor Speedway; Jones and Wallace Jr. will be representing KBM at both Texas and the race at Gateway Motorsports Park on June 14th. Keep up with the action at www.kylebuschmotorsports.com.
