The 86th Annual Academy Awards aired Sunday evening with no shortage of red carpet stunners, however the Women’s Style Examiner narrowed down a few of the best dressed from the night, including Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o who created magic in a flowing blue gown.
The stars shone brightly inside the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood and Highland Center on March 2 for the 2014 Academy Awards. The slideshow depicts best-dressed favorites of the night. However, none made a splash like 31-year-old Oscar winner for “12 Years a Slave” Lupita Nyong’o. According to E!’s Kelly Osbourne and Ross Mathews, Nyong’o created a new shade called “Nairobi Blue” after her interview with Ryan Seacrest on “E! Live From the Red Carpet at the 86th Annual Academy Awards”. Shining in a light blue low-cut flowing Prada gown with Fred Leighton jewels, Lupita Nyong’o explained that she chose the blue dress for the Academy Awards because it reminded her of the water of Nairobi, and she wanted a little bit of home with her at the Oscars.
Top fashion nods must go out to pregnant beauties Kerry Washington in mauve Jason Wu and Olivia Wilde in black and white Valentino accented with Lorraine Schwartz jewels.
Color was certainly not lacking as evident on Amy Adams in a navy Gucci Couture with Tiffany earrings, Idina Menzel in green Vera Wang accentuated by a Chimento signature piece, Jennifer Lawrence, who tripped as she arrived on the red carpet in a red form fitted Dior with peplum waist, and Sandra Bullock in navy Alexander McQueen and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.
Light shades also dominated on Oscar’s red carpet as seen on Penelope Cruz in a pink Giambattista Valli haute couture with a black accented tie at the waist, Naomi Watts who wore a white gown from the Calvin Klein Collection by Francisco Costa and Bvlgari Jewelry with spider web design and Cate Blanchett in a Girogio Armani heavily embellished nude dress.
And always elegantly dressed in classic Hollywood glamour, Charlize Theron wowed at the Academy Awards in a black form fitted Dior gown complete with a plunging neckline and sheer chiffon train.
