To promote the season premiere of “Hot in Cleveland,” three of the sitcom’s stars, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and Valerie Bertinelli, appeared on Tuesday’s “The Dr. Oz Show” and provided viewers and audience members with their age defying secrets.
The three actresses that have seemingly defied age without the help of plastic surgery, sat down with Dr. Oz and divulged their secrets to looking young. Warm lemon water is an onset staple for the cast of “Hot in Cleveland.” Wendie Malick, 63, recommended the health and beauty beverage, which is an ancient remedy according to Dr. Oz. The 53-year-old Valerie Bertinelli explained how to use this age defying secret.
Well, Wendie taught me this one. She said before you start your day; before you brush your teeth, anything, drink some warm lemon water. And so I’ve been doing that at the hotel here, too. I just ordered some room service, some lemons, and I run some hot water.
Malick concurred with Bertinelli and touted the benefits of the lemon water.
Particularly if you like to have a glass of wine or a martini the night before. I think it helps detox your liver.
According to Dr. Oz, lemon by itself is good for the skin, as it behaves as a collagen booster, and also lightens age spots. To reap the benefits of lemon as an anti-aging beauty supplement, apply lemon every other day directly to the age spot and let it sit for five to ten minutes.
In addition to Bertinelli’s, Leeves’, and Malick’s anti-aging skin secrets, beauty drinks and workout routines, the three actresses also stressed positive thinking, laughter and an unending quest for knowledge as key elements to look and feel young. Dr. Oz asked the cast of “Hot in Cleveland” what advice they’d provide to themselves when they were 25, and their advice is ideal for women of any age. Wendie Malick suggests living in the moment and Jane Leeves, 52, emphasizes to focus on what really matters in life.
Savor the ride, you know. I think when you’re younger, you’re always looking towards what I’m going to be when I grow up and how to realize my dreams, but it’s been the ride, the journey, that ends up being all the stuff you remember. And I don’t think we ever get to the end. There is no end to what you would think your hopes and dreams will take you.
Don’t sweat the small stuff. And you do that so much when you’re in your twenties and thirties, even your forties. I remember not being able to go out of the house without makeup. Now I’m like put a t-shirt on, nobody cares. You know, you’re just over yourself.
