Horse trainers Tracy Porter and TJ Clibborn have issued a challenge to Midwestern equestrians. The pair will lead an obstacle course competition at the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison in April.
The T ‘n T Obstacle Challenge, presented by the Wisconsin couple and sponsored by Badgerland Financial, is open to horseback riders of all ages and equestrian disciplines. Applications and accompanying video auditions are due Monday, February 17, for the contest with the popular Midwestern horse training clinicians and performers.
A limited number of participants will be chosen to enter a preliminary obstacle course during the Midwest Horse Fair. This course is expected to include eight challenging obstacles with a four-minute time limit. Riders will be judged on fluidness, horsemanship, obstacle execution, and precision.
The 2014 Midwest Horse Fair, themed “Horse Tales,” takes place April 11 to 13 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
The top 10 finishers in the T ‘n T Challenge prelim will advance to the finals. These riders will be split into two teams for coaching and competition, led by Tracy Porter and TJ Clibborn. The pair are well known, particularly across the Midwest US, for their expertise in obstacle training, confidence building, trail riding/camping with horses, and equestrian training at all levels.
For the final T ‘n T Challenge event, the two teams will compete in a mounted relay-style obstacle challenge. The first team to finish the course with no refusals or disturbed obstacles will win.
Each member of the first-place T ‘n T Challenge team will receive $250. Second-place team members each reap $100.
Successful applicants for the T ‘n T Challenge at the 2014 Midwest Horse Fair will be notified by March 1.
