With less than two weeks to go until fans start filing into Great Stage Park in Manchester, TN for Bonnaroo 2014, the news continues to fly in. On Thursday, Bonnaroo released several bits of news, including this year’s Food Truck Oasis vendors, the performance lineup for the Red Bull Music Academy Stage, and the schedule for the always popular Bonnaroo parades.
Bonnaroo’s annual parades are a big hit with fans. Fans, performers, and sometimes special guests march Mardi Gras style through Centeroo, sometimes leading to secret concerts. In past years, the time and location of the parades have often been kept a secret, or sent out via Bonnaroo’s app just hours before. This year, Bonnaroo has opened the march up to everyone by giving out the dates and times of the parades early. Both parades will form up at the bottom of 5th Ave in Centeroo, near the Comedy Theatre. The first parade will take place on Thursday, June 12, at 11:45 p.m. The second will take place Friday night at 12:30 a.m. While any possible “pots of gold”, as Bonnaroo calls them, at the end of the parades has been kept secret for now, they have mentioned that the Friday parade will be held on Friday the 13th and have encouraged paraders to dress up in their spookiest costumes.
This year, Bonnaroo has teamed up with Red Bull to present the Red Bull Music Academy Stage. This stage will show World Cup Soccer games during the day and at night will transition into an electronic music stage, complete with a Bass Academy for aspiring DJ. Music performances will be held on the RBMA Stage from Midnight until 4:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The RBMA stage will be headlined by Francois K and Manny Fresh and will also include performances from artists like Tennessee native LULU LOVE, Austin Paul, The Madd Wikkid, and BoomBaptist.
The final bit of news this week is a blessing for the Bonnaroo-bound foodie as Bonnaroo has announced its Food Truck Oasis vendors and some other interesting food options. In the past few years, Bonnaroo has made a strong push to offer higher end culinary options than the typical “festival midway” booth food. The Food Truck Oasis has hosted some of the hottest food trucks from around the nation and this year is no different. The Food Truck Oasis vendors for 2014 include Knoxville trucks Bull’s BBQ and Savory & Sweet, Asheville, NC-based meatball truck Eatbox, Peachtree, GA’s grass-fed burger truck Grazing Here, Kentucky pizza and sandwich vendor Rolling Oven, popular veteran Food Truck Oasis vendors Roti Rolls and The Big Cheese, and breakfast truck The Cracked Truck.
But the culinary options don’t stop at the Food Truck Oasis. Bonnaroo is also bringing a pair of very unique vendors to Centeroo. The first is Hamageddon, a fire-breathing iron pig who will preside over Baconland. In Baconland, fans can partake of “bacon flights”, tasting samples of bacon from around the country, as well as a multitude of sandwiches featuring bacon. The second vendor is the Gastropod Diner. Built inside a repurposed shipping container, Gastropod Diner will be situated just outside the Cinema Tent and, in honor of the 20th Anniversary of “Pulp Fiction”, the truck will feature dishes inspired by the film such as the Royale with Cheese and the Big Kahuna Burger.
If you have food allergies or dietary restrictions, Bonnaroo has also released menus for all food vendors, with helpful icons to assist in finding gluten free, nut free, vegetarian or vegan, organic, and sustainable vendors. You can find the full food vendor menu list here.
Bonnaroo 2014 will be held June 12-15 in Manchester, TN. Featured musical artists include Elton John, Jack White, Kanye West, The Avett Brothers, and Phoenix among others.
