Linkin Park released their newest single, “Guilty All The Same,” about a month ago, and whenever an artist releases a new single it can only mean one thing, a new album. Today, Linkin Park announced when their next album will be releasing.
Mike Shinoda, who is one of the lead vocalists for Linkin Park, talked about the upcoming album and where they were when they initially started crafting what “The Hunting Party” would be.
“There was a point last year when I was making stuff, I listened to it one day and I just realized that it was wrong. I was estimating something that I liked listening to, not something that I wanted to be making,” Shinoda said.
They then talked about what they fundamentally wanted to start thinking about, as writing some “heavy stuff” was eventually the foundation for where they would move forward from.
They then were trying to “make music that they weren’t hearing” from other artists, something that Linkin Park has historically done well, but still isn’t an easy feat for any band to accomplish. Chester Bennington, who is the other lead vocalist for Linkin Park, expressed his thoughts when he first heard the band’s new single, “Guilty All The Same.”
“When I heard the open rifts of ‘Guilty All The Same’, I hadn’t really felt that kind of excitement for a long time. At that point, it was like ‘okay this is where we’re going,'” Bennington said.
Finally, Linkin Park knew what “Guilty All The Same” was going to be and it set the tone for the rest of the album. Fans have been waiting a few years for the band’s next album, following the popular release “Living Things,” and now we know the album will be launching in less than two months.
While we do not know a ton of information about what exactly this next album will be like, Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson previously spoke about something Mike Shinoda said to him regarding “The Hunting Party.”
“I thought this was kind of funny: Mike [Shinoda] actually described it almost a prequel to ‘Hybrid Theory.’ There’s a lot of records that were influential to us — some hardcore stuff, some heavy, punk-oriented stuff — and that spirit is there. It’s like the record we might have made had we not made ‘Hybrid Theory.’ It definitely goes down a different path, and it is guitar driven — that’s not an accident,” Delson said.
The new album is called “The Hunting Party” and it will be launching on June 17th, 2014. If you haven’t done so yet, you should to check out their new single, “Guilty All The Same.”
