Mixamo, Inc. launched a 3D character creator entitled Fuse 1.0 on Valve’s PC gaming platform Steam today, according to a press release obtained by Examiner.
Fuse 1.0 “offers an incredibly simple approach to high-quality 3D character creation,” allowing players to design their own personas by easily dragging digital body parts and textures into the interface. Once created, they can be imported into Steam games compatible with the program and also shared to other users via the Steam Workshop.
Characters from Valve game Team Fortress 2 will also make an appearance on Fuse 1.0, as well as the ability to add and integrate custom clothing, body parts and substances (called “smart textures”) created in other modeling tools.
“The Valve community has already shown their excitement for Fuse, and provided us with invaluable feedback on what they would like to see in the product as we move forward,” Stefano Corazza, CEO and co-founder of Mixamo said in the press release. “We have taken that feedback to heart and rolled it all into Fuse 1.0. We can’t wait to see what the Steam community creates, and how the addition of customized characters will bring even more vibrancy to the already active Steam community.”
“At Valve we are great fans of user generated content and the amazing artwork the Steam community can create,” said Valve’s Mark Richardson in the press release as well. “With Fuse 1.0 and the ability to integrate user generated assets, the character creation possibilities become endless. We can’t wait to see all the unique characters that will show up in Source Film Maker, Garry’s Mod and other community supported games.”
The Fuse Complete Package can be purchased on Steam for $99.99. Additionally, a clothing substances expansion pack is also readily available for $19.99.
