This film follows Aulenbach and Barton as they spelunk through a variety of caves looking for information about Earth’s past and microbes.
Nancy Aulenbach, Hazel Barton, Steve Atteberry, Gordon Brown, Jorge Gonzalez, Liam Neeson (Narration).
Trailers and summaries of this one indicate it will be a joyous journey through some never before seen caves. Although there were some good shots, there were really only a couple of caves that got much film time. Even then, there was very little information about the caves themselves or the technical aspects of caving or spelunking. It doesn’t take long to realize Aulenbach and Barton are much less about caving than they are finding a perfect halocline and extracting some microbes. Everything else is secondary.
There was some excellent footage both inside and outside of cave but it was a bit disappointing when at only 37 minutes in length the film spent a good 10 minutes on kayaking.
The soundtrack, done by the Moody Blues, was very nice and added good effect to the film.
Overall, if you want to see and learn about caving this is not the movie to see. However, if you are a Moody Blues fan and enjoy caves and scenery you will probably enjoy this brief diversion. Not a bad film, just not what was advertised.
Nothing to limit audience age with this one.
