The following is a list of the NBA teams that have lost the most consecutive games in a row. Not a list most NBA teams want to be on, unless they are trying to get the first overall pick in the NBA Draft. I’ve listed all teams that lost over 20 games in a row.
NBA Teams with the most consecutive losses in a row
T-1. 2014 Philadelphia 76ers – 26 losses in a row
The 2014 Philadelphia 76ers lost 26 straight games to tie the NBA record for most consecutive losses in a row. The 76ers were 15-31 when the losing streak began, and the team was 15-57 when it ended the streak by beating the Detroit Pistons.
T-1. 2011 Cleveland Cavaliers – 26 losses in a row
The 2011 Cleveland Cavaliers hold the NBA record for most losses in a row with 26. The record came in the season right after LeBron James left the Cavaliers for the Miami Heat.
With LeBron James in 2010, the Cleveland Cavaliers went 61-21. Without LeBron James in 2011, the Cavaliers record fell to 19-63, and the team set the NBA record for most consecutive losses with 26.
3. 1982 to 1983 Cleveland Cavaliers – 24
The 1982 Cleveland Cavaliers lost their last 19 games en route to a 15-67 season. The 1983 Cavaliers then lost their first five games of the season en route to a 23-59 season.
The 1983 Cavaliers ended the 24 game losing streak by winning an OT game vs the Golden State Warriors. The Cavaliers then lost seven more games in a row. If they had lost that OT game the Cavaliers would have lost over 30 games in a row.
T-4. 2012 Charlotte Bobcats – 23
The 2012 Charlotte Bobcats lost their last 23 games of the season to cap a dismal 7-59 record. If not for the shortened season due to the player strike that year, the 2012 Bobcats would probably have set the NBA record for most losses in a season. The team did win its first game of the 2013 season to end the streak.
T-4. 1998 Denver Nuggets – 23
The 1998 Denver Nuggets lost 23 games in a row during the season en route to an 11-71 record. The Nuggets were just awful that season, as they lost their first 12 games of the season, and also had a 16 game losing streak in 1998. Imagine rooting for a team that had losing streaks of 23, 16 and 12 games in one season.
T-4. 1996 Vancouver Grizzlies – 23
During their inaugural season in the NBA in 1996, the expansion Vancouver Grizzlies lost 23 games in a row en route to a 15-67 season. The Grizzlies also had a 19 game losing streak in 1996.
