Please introduce yourself to the readers:
Hi my name is Brian Carroll, I am from Dublin Ireland and relocated to Los Angeles about 4 years ago.
How and when did you first get into performing?
I first got into performing when I was 5 years old in primary school. My school back then, had speech and drama classes, they went on for 7 years until I finished Primary school and then went to Secondary School. While I was in primary school, I performed in numerous school plays.
Ali Baba and the 40 thieves
The Happy Prince
Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs
The Pied Piper of Hamlin
Hail Glorious St Patrick
Christmas Nativity Play’s
Then in 2010, I decided to come to Los Angeles to stretch my skills as an actor in Hollywood and I felt this was the best place to experience it.
Who were some of your biggest inspirations?
My biggest inspiration was my speech and drama teacher Ms Marie Coll. Marie believed in me and said I have the potential to make it in Hollywood and that I should go there to further my training and pursue a career in acting when I finish Secondary School.Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are my acting inspirations, I see myself playing the type of roles they play.
What kind have training have you done?
I first trained at my primary school in Ireland doing speech and drama classes from ages 5 to 12 and performed in many school plays. My second part of acting training was in the Acting Corps School of acting in North Hollywood, where I learned the Meisner & Chekhov technique and also performed plays at their theatre. My third part of acting training was at Theatre of Arts Acting School in Hollywood where I also learned Meisner& Chekhov, Stage Combat, Fencing, Classical Scene Study and also performed the play One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest
What has been your favorite role to play so far?
My favorite roles so far were:
A CIA agent in a short film I did called Perception,
An LAPD Officer in D-Dot Ft Xzibit music video Revolution and also a short film called Maternal Instinct where I was in a shootout with two female bank robbers, both of whom I shot dead. I also liked the Verizon Wireless commercial I did where I also played an LAPD Officer.
What projects do you have coming up?
At the moment I have 1 feature film lined up called Turpitude playing a Las Vegas Police Officer, the shoot date is yet to be determined. Normally I get two auditions a week but last week I did 7 auditions and booked a role as a paramedic on a short film without an audition which is shooting next week, so there will be more projects coming up sometime in the future.
Who would be your ideal co-star and why?
My ideal co-star would be Jim Parsons who plays Dr Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory, it would be my dream role to play his brother in that show.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans are to keep pursuing my acting career and I hope I end up playing Sheldon’s brother in The Big Bang Theory! After that, I hope to star in a Cop Show similar to the The Shield.
What is your advice to aspiring performers?
My advice to any aspiring performers is to keep pursuing your dream and never give up, you may have some hiccups along the way to your dream but it will pay off in the end!
