Lottery players everywhere want to know, did anyone win the Powerball jackpot May 31, 2014? Saturday’s Powerball winning numbers were announced at 10:59 p.m., so check your tickets now, you could be the next multimillionaire! The Powerball results are 15, 27, 31, 34, 48, and the red Powerball number is 1, Lalate announced Saturday, May 31.
The estimated jackpot amount for the May 31 drawing is $173 million annuity, or $102 million in cash, according to New Jersey Newsroom on Saturday. Unfortunately, both options are before state and federal taxes are deducted. Because Saturday’s Powerball numbers were drawn just minutes ago, it’s still too early to predict a Powerball lottery winner.
If no one wins tonight’s Powerball jackpot, the next grand prize will likely reach $200 million or more by the time the next drawing rolls around on Wednesday, June 4. What will you spend your fortune on if you get lucky tonight and win the enormous $173 million jackpot? Will you buy a new house, pay off your bills, or go on a vacation? With the size of this jackpot, you can do anything your heart desires!
The Saturday, May 31 Powerball drawing is the eleventh in a long line of failures to hit the jackpot. The Powerball jackpot has rolled over 10 times since one Florida Powerball winner won $148.8 million on April 23. The Powerball jackpot has been growing steadily until it reached tonight’s amount of $173 million.
The last Powerball drawing on Wednesday, May 28 produced no jackpot winners or $2 million Power Play winners, but did manage to award two $1 million winners for matching five out of six white Powerball winning numbers. The second-tier lottery winners purchased their lucky tickets from the Georgia Lottery and Illinois Lottery. The Powerball winning numbers for this drawing were 2, 24, 28, 32, 59, and the red Powerball number was 25. There was a total of 551,217 tickets that won close to $5.7 million in cash prizes.
In addition, New Jersey Lottery Executive Director Carole Hedinger announced on May 29, that there were two third-tier New Jersey Powerball winners in the last drawing. The $10,000 lottery winners matched four out of five white Powerball winning numbers, AND the red Powerball number for the May 28 drawing. Missing just one Powerball number kept these lottery winners from winning the huge Powerball jackpot!
The New Jersey Powerball winners purchased their winning tickets in Camden County at Shoprite of Lawnside #534, 130 No. White Horse Pike, Lawnside, and the other winning ticket was purchased in Mercer County at Wegmans Food & Pharmacy, 240 Nassau Park Blvd., in Princeton, New Jersey. Carol Hedinger commented,
“Congratulations to these fortunate lottery players who purchased the winning tickets. These lucky players now join the growing ranks of New Jersey Powerball winners.”
The Powerball winning numbers are drawn live Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 10:59 p.m. EDT in Florida. The Powerball game is played in 43 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $2 each.
