Brian’s exclusive forecast for Washington DC:
Today: Sunny early, then increasing clouds. Warm with a high around 80, except cooler right along the bay shore.
Tonight: Rain showers with a low in the mid to upper 50s.
Saturday: Cloudy early, then more sunshine with a high near 65.
Saturday Night: Clear with a low in the lower 50s.
Sunday: Mostly sunny and warm with a high in the lower 70s.
The extended forecast calls for clouds and sun on Monday with a low in the mid to upper 50s and a high in the mid to upper 70s. Rain showers on Tuesday with a low in the upper 50s and a high in the mid 60s. Clearing, breezy, and much cooler on Wednesday with a low in the mid 40s and a high near 50. Sunny and cool on Thursday with a low in the mid 30s and a high in the mid 50s.
Temperatures this afternoon are soaring into the upper 70s to lower 80s from Baltimore to Annapolis to southern Maryland. Readings along the bay shore are cooler due to the still-cold waters of the Chesapeake. The warm surge is resulting from a clockwise, southerly flow of air around high pressure. Meanwhile, a cold front is approaching the area from the west and will produce cloudiness as we move toward sunset. Low pressure moving along the frontal boundary may produce more widespread showers tonight into early Saturday. A thundershower is not out of the question, but no severe weather is anticipated. In the wake of the cold front, winds will shift to the northwest and sunshine will return for Saturday and Sunday as high pressure builds over the area. Highs on Saturday will reach the mid to upper 60s, which is seasonable for this time of year. As this high moves to our east on Sunday, a more southerly flow of air will develop and temperatures will approach the lower 70s on Sunday and the middle 70s on Monday. Next week will bring some changes with showers on Tuesday and much cooler conditions for the rest of the week with highs only in the 50s on Tuesday and Wednesday with overnight lows in the mid 30s. Freezing temperatures are possible in some areas on Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
