Rochester, NY, March 31, 2014. Young Audiences of Rochester, NY presents “Cypher’s Stand Against Racism”, the second annual youth arts event focused on celebrating diversity and combating racism. On Friday, April 25, 2014 at 6:00 pm at Rochester Youth for Christ (1 Favor Street), youth from the Cypher and the Urban Performing Arts Center (UPAC) are teaming up to host a special event, featuring singers, rappers, dancers and poets who will be taking a creative stand against racism. The event will support the YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County’s leadership in coordinating the local response to the national Stand Against Racism campaign. Stand Against Racism is an annual community-wide event designed to build awareness about the issue. General admission is $5, $3 for students with a valid ID and free for children 10 years and younger.
The Cypher provides quality arts experiences for some of the City’s most challenged and troubled youth, and integrates gifted and talented low and high achievers, along the creative spectrum. Opportunities are provided for them to be active creators of art and media in after school programs that focus on all arts disciplines, entrepreneurship and career readiness.
